momondays started out as a monthly storytelling event created by professional speaker Michel Neray in February 2012.
The first ‘moShow’ took place on the second floor of a little tea house with no stage, no audio, and no music… just tea -- and 18 people in the room, (half of whom was the speakers... and the other half was the servers!)
Within a few months Michel moved the event to a jazz club with real food, a real stage and real alcohol... and started encouraging the speakers to tell stories that were more personally significant and meaningful -- what professional speakers call their ‘signature story’.
That changed everything.
Since then, momondays have sprung up in multiple cities. They say you meet the nicest people at momondays, and it’s true!
Live your passion in storytelling and be an entrepreneur at the same time. Organize your own events and let us help you start with the fundamentals and arm you with the tools & back-end you need.
Everyone is a story in progress. Tell us yours! momondays is for all kinds of people like you with a great story and life lessons to share, from people who have never set foot on stage, to professional speakers and everyone in-between!
It would be disingenuous to suggest we offer everything you need to succeed.
The truth is there are always multiple factors that drive the growth and success of any business... Strong vision and leadership...
FANTASTIC!!! The ONLY story thing that I've joined and done that really moved the needle for me. And I enjoy the format of these workshops! I love this group.
Michel Neray's Storytelling training has not only helped internal staff be more effective in their respective roles, but it also helped us access new sources of revenue. In addition, our front-line staff reported they were more effective in the field. We would definitely hire Michel again, and in fact, we did!
The session was fantastic!!
Michel Neray was pivotal in impacting my speaking career and workshop facilitation. His workshop taught me to craft my humorous talks with a core message that changed my speaking business profoundly. His easy style and compassionate manner allowed me to open up and take my business to a new level.
Always a wonderful, fun, and full of story evening!! Highly recommend you attend if you haven't been. Hats off to all the speakers who share things that they have never shared before on stage. See you again this month.
I have attended Michel's 4-day workshop on The Art of Business Story Telling thru Tata Management Training Centre, Pune. It was truly an exhilarating and insightful experience. I recommend this course for all who usually struggle to put up their case effectively to Senior Management.
It's Always fun at Momondays. I just did my 6th one at Momondays. Can't get enough of them.
Spending a year as a momondays host provided me with precious life experience. As the emcee, I was given a consistent spotlight to lead and inspire the community. Not only did it allow me to develop my public speaking and entertainment skills, it also shined a light on my authenticity and playfulness. It allowed me to hold a community gathering space, where I could help people make new friends, connect others to businesses as well as provide a platform to highlight people and their stories in our community. momondays has been extremely influential and I am proud I was able to contribute as a conduit for a stronger community.
Michel's coaching helped me refocus my energy on what was important while I continued to branch out. He helped a great deal and I recommend him for those who want to gain clarity and be empowered to reach new levels of success.
I participated in Michel's virtual storytelling workshop last week and it was super informative and fun AND I got to practice! Was just like being in person but even quieter and easier to focus on! These classes are always full of valuable, take-home material!
Hosting momondays was one of the best things I’ve ever done. It gave me the opportunity to participate in creating an inclusive tapestry where the threads of everyone’s story were woven into the cloth that is our community. I was able to put together shows that included laughter, sighs, cheers, and tears. I will always look back on my experience as the Halifax momondays host with the deepest of gratitude and pride.
momondays changed my life and it changed the lives of thousands of others. I am Linda Babulic and as the host of momondays Ottawa for three years, I had the opportunity to hone my speaking skills to better relate to the audience and to what their needs are. And, as a great event planner, we packed the place, for the hundreds of speakers who spoke, some had never told their story before and never told it again. And then the audience... We laughed, we cried, and one night we even blew bubbles. momondays is life-changing!
Ahhh... momondays... I miss you! Five years we were together month after month we went from a small intimate coffee shop to a huge 300-person theater and every month you wowed me with your emerging speakers sharing their stores for the first time with your seasoned speakers sharing their ideas, insights, and inspiration the crowd was always positive optimistic people who enjoyed the interaction and engagement and trying new things we were even trying to break the Guinness record for the most hugs, we had so much fun. The only reason I left you is because I moved away but momondays I miss you terribly I wish I could host again and I look forward to going to an event sometime soon.
I was so impressed with the Virtual Workshop. What impacted me most was incorporating your teaching about where and how I might insert a pause.. very useful and fun exercise!
I had the pleasure of attending my first storytelling workshop with Michel that focused on comedy. As a beginning speaker, my past talks didn't have much comedy in them. I was hoping to change that and Michel gave plenty of ideas to make that happen regardless of what type of speaking you do. This was my first workshop on storytelling, so I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised by the knowledge and felt it was well worth the value. The one thing I got from the workshop that I wasn't expecting was just how powerful the breakout sessions were when you went into the breakout groups. It was so beneficial. I would definitely suggest attending one of Michel's workshops if you are a speaker, wanting to become a speaker or just interested in upping your presentation skills and being able to connect your message in a more impactful way.
Hosting momondays was, undoubtedly, one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. From a practical angle, I was given the knowledge and understanding of the logistics of planning and executing a successful event, which was invaluable and helped to enhance my entrepreneurial goals. Additionally, the opportunity to emcee events every month improved my public speaking style and delivery, giving me a more confident stage presence. If this wasn’t enough, perhaps the most cherished aspect of my involvement in the momondays community are the connections that I made and the relationships that I built throughout my time hosting. Each speaker came with a powerful message and I was continually blown away and inspired by every person who made the choice to step on stage and share their story. Month after month, I was able to bring like-minded people together to meet, bond, and inspire each other. I was able to create a space for motivation, growth, and community. I am forever grateful for this experience and cannot thank Momondays enough for how strongly it enriched my life.
Such a warm, welcoming platform that allowed me to share my story for the first time. It was a wonderful experience and I'm grateful to be part of the momondays community!
So months after applying for jobs, I finally landed a job doing what I love with a cool team. Part of how I sold myself as the person for the job was telling them my story (thank you, Michel!)
I've attended a few momondays events in Ottawa and they have ALL been EXCELLENT and extremely inspiring! Can't wait for the next one!
That was the perfect session for me. It helped me develop the story as the foundation of my branding.
One of the best storytelling programs, if not the best, I have ever seen. Remarkable in its clarity.
My first experience with moMondays was as an audience member. The energy in the room was amazing! After attending a few shows I became hooked and wanted more. When the opportunity to become a moHost appeared, I jumped at it. Now, four years later, I still love being able to connect wonderful speakers, storytellers, and entertainers to our audience - sharing their experiences with a growing moCommunity of inspired friends.
What I loved about Michel's Virtual Storytelling workshop were the authentic camaraderie and exercises that provided the right amount of challenge so I could stretch myself without worrying that I had to get it perfect. I am going to use these tricks to have more fun preparing my next talk. Thanks Michel Neray!
Hosting momondays gave us the opportunity to bring the community together in a meaningful way. In a word — the most meaningful compliment was the PEOPLE: the people and their stories creating a connection that will forever be in our hearts.
I loved the virtual format! It ran smoothly, allowed us to meet and easily work with new people, plus everyone had a chance to be heard and participate. It may have even helped us to be more focused and present than an 'in-person' experience.
Being an (initially reluctant) host of momondays changed so much about my life and my business. I was terrified. I wasn't a speaker - I lived my life behind the curtain making other speakers look good. At least, that is what I told myself.
My experience being the host of momondays Barrie changed everything. I discovered that I did in fact 'have what it took' to be on stage, in fact, I loved it up there. I learned how to craft great stories, and deliver them well. That change in my attitude helped me step out of my comfort zone in so many ways. I started incorporating speaking into my business, I held my head just a little higher. I also met the most incredible people and was changed and inspired by their stories. Hosting momondays absolutely changed my life, because it changed me and I am grateful for the experience.
Michel's speaking classes and pointers go straight to the heart of transformation… and they’re informative and fun. They've been a key factor in helping me effectively build my coaching practice and my community.
It’s been an indescribable feeling emceeing momondays Winnipeg for 5 years and having the best seat in the house for people's transformation. I loved being at the center of an incredibly inspiring community.
My 'momondays' journey began attending an out-of-town event that I thoroughly enjoyed! The energy, the stories, the inspirational entertainment, and the type of audience it attracted were the catalyst and foundations for a HUGE pivot and giant leap forward in my intentional growth! It's been almost 50 shows and over 4 years... stay tuned because the best is yet to come!
I learned a lot about how to increase audience connection and had the opportunity to practice it in the actual workshop.
The community multiplies the value of the workshops. Inside the community, we post follow-ups and help each other strengthen our stories, our delivery, and our impact. That also keeps us connected between workshops, which feels great.
As a moHost, I discovered the world of storytelling in the most magical way. ❤️
I definitely got more confidence in telling my story — you are very knowledgable and experienced and I am excited to learn from you.
What I loved most about "Hooks & Headlines" workshop is the innovative ways of how to deliver presentations in the most powerful ways. Michel's techniques will take any public speaker to the next level.
I love getting to know my fellow members and their stories. The learning is fantastic … I love expanding my learning, my growth, and my comfort zone...
Reaching kids is hard, but I used the story outlines that I learned from Michel's workshop to construct my talk, and the comments I got at the end confirmed the success of my talk. Thank you Michel!
My time as a moHost changed my life in all the best ways one could imagine. It brought out more of my true potential, connected me with countless wonderful people and, I believe, made a very tangible positive difference for all who took part. I will always feel proud and grateful for my time as a moHost and I recommend it completely to anyone who feels called to it. Jump in!
I went to my first momondays with a friend last night and I was inspired to look at life in new ways. The speakers were phenomenal and from all walks of life. I look forward to going back in the future!
Your story coaching helped me create a story that got people to listen. Really listen.
The story structure workshop was a big help in terms of finding the meat and potatoes in my story. The comedy workshop enabled me to find the humour. Having the feedback from you and the other participants in each workshop was very helpful too!
momondays is the only place where you get to connect to other humans through the power of the story. Learn what your story is and how to tell it. It's the only way we truly connect.
The 'Storytelling for Business' series has taught me how to develop and present impactful stories that can be used both in conversation and on stage. I have learned more in this 6 week's workshop than I have in the past year.
The 'Storytelling for Business' series was transformational. It taught me how to tell a story with meaning, purpose, and great technique. Very effective.
Michel, your Storytelling coaching helped me land a great client, which gave me a 30x, or 3,000% return on my investment!! Now I am conscious of storytelling as I never was before. Thank you!
Talented, diverse, fast-paced, super entertaining evening in which the time flew by!
Being a momondays host for an entire year was a life changing experience something I am very glad I said yes to I learn so much about myself having the opportunity to provide a platform once a month to highlight contributing members of our community and to give a space for people who are our neighbors to share an impactful story and to create more unity in the community it was very honorable to hold that type of space and be that conduit and I learned a lot about myself my inner child emerged and my comedian came out in my entertainer as a went on stage and I was able to be playful and people will laugh as I was the face of this event and I had to make sure everybody was comfortable and having a good time I had a ton of fun every month doing it was something I look forward to and I love having the opportunity to connect people at the shows two different programs in my community or two different entrepreneurs and businesses and thank you Michel the founder for giving me the opportunity and providing me all the ongoing mentorship that was extremely helpful and I grew so much and it will be a chapter of my life that I will never forget and i have new tools memories and experiences in my pocket and in my heart that I carry forward with me onto my new adventures so thank you momondays for believing in me and coming together as a community.
I was immediately impressed by Michel's quick grasp of the potential impact of my message and his keen insight into how I could have my message resonate more deeply with my audience.
You did an excellent job of demonstrating the value of storytelling to enhance leadership and improve outcomes. The session also gave us new insights and appreciation for our colleagues. And while I was initially concerned about how people would take to a session on storytelling, it was gratifying to see how participants left the workshop with specific tools to help them be more structured and deliberate in their communications.
Michel’s coaching helped me clarify my key insights, balance the story with just the right amount of detail, and elevate it from a basic 'talk' to a powerful performance.
As a professional speaker and singer-songwriter already successful at making a living through storytelling, I was hoping to deepen my knowledge of the craft. I was, however, a bit skeptical that I’d learn anything new. That skepticism quickly evaporated… I loved all the different methodologies and approaches to distilling the essence of your story. And the whole design of the workshop was aligned with the creative process, in that it was designed to turn off your brain, get yourself out of your own way, and put you into flow through the great prompts and the pace of it all. The time absolutely flew by and I felt like I had learned so much when I emerged on the other side. I will be back for more!
Very inspiring! Loved hearing true personal stories!
Finally, I get to experience the fun and adventures to be had a momondays and share with the audience my story. Wasn't expecting the standing ovation but was certainly very grateful to all.
‘Kiss the Rock’ is an expression that comes from canoeing/kayaking. It refers to paddling a whitewater river and hitting a rock broadside. Most people’s instinct would be to lean away from the rock, but the correct thing to do is to lean over toward the rock and allow the current to lift the boat toward one side or the other.
In life, we can try to resist the obstacles and challenges in our way, or we can Kiss the Rock to embrace our challenges, and let them push us forward.
If you're like most people, you probably see yourself as a positive person. Someone who likely responds better to positive messages, rather than negative messages.
But maybe that's not quite correct.
