Frequently Asked Questions
Who created this wonderful event?
Thank you for asking. It was developed by Michel Neray who continues to host momondays in Toronto and select other cities. Special thanks go to Jo-Anna Downey for hosting the longest running comedy open mic in North America and showing everyone ‘how it’s done’; Kate Davis for wondering aloud, ‘I wonder if we can do a kind of an open mic but for speakers?’; and Judy Croon for her unfailing encouragement at the start. Of course, if you've read the ‘about’ page you know we've evolved into a unique blend of music, theatre and storytelling… and no doubt we will continue to evolve, because, well, that's life!
How often are these events held?
Originally, momondays were held once a month in each location. The pandemic ground the whole operation to a halt. Once we started up again, we wanted to do something different – and better! (Think ‘new & improved.’) These days, we hold a momondays consistently inconsistently. Check the Events for the exact date and place in the city nearest you.
Is there a cost to attend?
There is a nominal cover charge, usually a fraction of the ticket fee you'd expect to pay for a big name concert. Not only do you get to experience great talent and powerful experiences at momondays, you also support local artists. Dinner and drinks are extra; socializing with great people is always free.
Is there networking?
People have said that they've done the best networking at momondays, but this is not a business networking event. Leave your business cards at the office and just make friends with people! You meet the nicest people at momondays, so come early... either on your own or with friends.
Can I perform at momondays?
